Sam Y. Lin, M.DMedical DirectorBoard Certified – Family Practice and Sports Medicine Palm Springs Life Magazine named Dr. Sam Lin as one of the top 70 physicians in the Coachella Valley in 2005. This is just one of many honors that Dr. Lin has received as a result of his dedication to patient care and patient education. Dr. Lin is a family practice physician in La Quinta California, with a specialty in sports medicine. In addition to his busy private practice, with partner Dr. Shawn Allen, Dr. Lin serves as team physician for: Palm Desert High School and Desert Christian High School. Previously he served four years as team physician for the Indian Wells Tennis Tournament and the annual golf classic – Skin Games. He currently is the medical director for a local nursing home and is a regular consultant for Oasis Psychiatric Rehabilitation Center. A recipient of a Sports Medicine Fellowship from the University of Kentucky, Dr. Lin earned his medical degree from New York Medical College. He completed his residency in Family Medicine at UCLA and is the only resident in the programs history to have earned Outstanding evaluations in all 36 rotations. In 2006, Dr. Lin joined ADVANCED WEIGHT MANAGEMENT as a partner and co-medical director. Married and the father of two, he is excited to be part of a proven weight loss program that addresses all issues regarding the disease of obesity: nutrition, psychology, exercise and comprehensive medical management.

Gwen Schroeder, R.N.Program DirectorGwen has been the manager of multiple weight management programs including hospital-based settings. Her credentials are stellar. Gwen has been a Registered Nurse since 1988. Her passion is to help others wishing to take control of their lives with healthy eating and lifestyle choices. Gwen is a member of the ASBS (American Society of Bariatric Surgeons) and has advanced training from Novartis Nutrition.
Daniel L. Watson, Ph.D., LPBehaviorist and Group FacilitatorDan is a clinical psychologist who has worked in private practice with individuals and groups for many years. His career in weight management began in 1980 with his own weight program. He has worked in his profession since 1975. He has joined Advanced Weight Management in 2005.
Guadalupe J. Vera, R.D.Registered DietitianLupe is a registered dietitian and received her bachelor's degree in Nutrition and Food Science from California State University , San Bernardino . Her expertise specializes in Diet and Disease, e.g., Diabetes, Hypertension, Hyperlipidemia, etc. with the emphasis on weight management. Over the past 4 years, she has provided nutrition education to patients and conducted lifestyle change classes at local outpatient/inpatient dietary services. For the past two years she has provided nutritional consultation for Bariatric Specialist, with an emphasis in pre-bariatric surgical weight loss and post bariatric dietary success. Vera is an active member of The American Dietetic Association, The California Dietetic Association and The Inland District Dietetic Association. She frequently serves as a guest speaker on nutrition topics at community events. |
